The Works @ Mystery Ranch G-6000
He works at Mystery Ranch. Dana designs packs around motion: Knuckledragging at Mt. Hood. Column wrestling on Devil's Tower. Levitating on rock and log across Hellroaring Creek. The load isn't important- staying mobile with a load is. The range of loads is expanding - folks at the ranch bike eveything - roads, mountains, and BMX. Skateboards take their toll as well... Its enough to get Dana backpacking again, just for the quiet. So what is your motion? Slide, ride, walk, climb? Or gracefully immobile? The Mystery Ranch builds packs that help you seize the experience. Pick one out and try it on. Take a moment to experience the pleasure of a custom fitted pack. From our quick Magic Monkey to our buffed out G-6000, Mystery Ranch packs fit the needs and backs of the most mobile primates. Whatever their size and shape; however they choose to swing.
Sometimes you have to haul it all. Winter trips, extended backpacking
excursions, or just too much gear. The G-6000 was created for these occasions.
Smart
features and big-load comfot make this pack ideal for long, gear-laden trips.
Dana didn't mince words after hauling a 50-pound load up and down Kesugi Ridge: "No
sore spots. No shoulder strain. This is the best pack I've ever used." Her
comfort was so great she didn't even notice when a prankster in the group slipped
a few rocks into her pack. The firm support comes from a stiff framesheet backed
by an aluminum stay, plus fiberglass rods that provide excellent weight transfer
to the well-padded hipbelt. Other noteworthy features: large, vertical back pockets
that keep trail necessities at hand; an internal compression strap that makes
it easy to close the sleeping bag compartment (and reduces zipper strain); a
durable, double-layer packbag; and a crafty harness with adjustability that makes
fine-tuning fit a snap (two sizes, 14 to 22 inches). The pack lacks water-bottle
holders ($15 add-ons sold separately) and wand pockets, and the prototype we
tested had no place for a hydration system (production models will have a hydration-compatible
lid).
Built
to handle tough loads, the G-6000 maintains it's flat, efficient shape
with load bearing Xply Cordura panels by Dimension Polyant. These structured
fabric panels channel the load directly to the G-6000's internal mainframe, a
glass composite X that conducts that load to a 5 segment Lumbar Wrap hipbelt.
The outamatic harness and framing give a perfectly easy fit, automatically adjusting
to your shape every time you lift your load.
Big Honkin Bottle Pockets.
The G-6000's generous bottle pockets let you one hand a nalgene full of water
whenever you want a drink - no stopping neccessary. Elastic pocket top and mesh
pocket bottom keeps your stuff in and lets rain and dust out. You work hard with
this pack. A full bladder in the lid pocket combined with 2 quarts down low means
serious hydration.
Separate shoulder harnesses and belt settings for men and women give a complete custom fit for all of us. Call for special custom harness options. This is the most comfortable, most stable, and most fun BIG pack Dana Gleason has ever built. (Yes, fun...) You wont believe how good it feels.... It's time to expect more out of your pack - the G-6000 shows how much more.
Speed
Zip Bottom
Dana Gleason's SpeedZip is designed to give big, easy access to your sleeping
gear. The long zip ends lock together, protecting the zip when closed. Zipped
open, the SpeedZip is 8" x 16", fronting a 1600 cu. in. lower compartment.
An internal compression strap takes all strain off the SpeedZip, making it easy
to close. A horizontal divider buckles in to keep the bottom seperate.
The SpeedZip sleeping bag compartment zips easily, and will swallow a big stuffsac
with ease.
The G-6000 lid now has separate gear and hydration pockets, and converts into a slick, self contained 900 cubic inch daypack.
Dana has added built-in wand/waterbottle pockets.
Here is what they had to say in Backpacker Magazine's "Alaska Tested" article:
